Are you cramming your life so full that you don’t take any time to take care of your spirit? It’s the spirit that makes your life enjoyable. When your spirit is in tact, you can find happiness all around. You’ll feel happy just to see the sun come out, or see a flower bloom. You find reasons to feel joyful coming easily.I remember a particularly bad time in my life that I felt like my spirit had died. Like I was just a body going through the motions of survival – feeling not much of anything – let alone any joy. I also didn’t care much if the house was clean or if I ate well, or at all. It seemed pointless. What I came to realize was - these simple things nourish your spirit. Once the house was cleaned up, it seemed instantly calmer. Things were more relaxed. Once I started eating better and doing things to take care of myself – I not only felt better physically, but it also helped me feel better spiritually. My house would not be a castle by most people’s standards. It’s old. It needs remodeling. The windows are more than drafty. It has one little tiny bathroom. But I’ll tell you what- When I walk in and close that door – I have left the outside world. I love coming home. And despite it’s obvious flaws, people like coming here. It doesn’t matter where you live- you can make your home your castle – your respite from the world. How well you take care of your home and your body has little to do with what others think. It has to do with how you value yourself. That’s where your spirit lives – inside of you. Make sure you’re taking time to take care of your spirit and let your spirit know it’s worth something to you. Let your spirit rise from the dead. Let yourself feel joy and gratitude - even for the simplest reasons. You’ll be surprised at how different your life will start to look. There are easy little things you can do to feed your spirit -If your home is chaotic – clean it up. If you’re feeling bad about your body – cut out packaged and fast foods, and get some exercise. If you seem to never have enough time- Use a daily ‘to-do’ list to keep you organized, and if you have an errand or something that needs to be done, just do it so it’s not hanging over your head. Once you get a handle on the little things, you’ll find more time, energy, and motivation to start working on the big things. It’s not rocket science. It costs you nothing to try these few simple things and see if they don’t produce unexpected results. And when those unexpected moments of happiness appear – hold on to them. Dance, Sing, Laugh… Let your spirit soar! You can do anything you put your mind to.Be great.
